Senior Backend Developer – Elixir / Ruby / Go
Location: Remote (One day a month in Chester)Fancy joining a high-growth tech business with a major product roadmap and big investment into engineering?We’re helping a client find a Senior Backend Developer to play a key role in scaling an established IoT platform – already used by thousands of businesses across the UK and Europe. The product is gaining serious traction, and there’s plenty of opportunity to lead, influence architecture, and shape the future of the platform.You'll balance technical excellence with execution – working closely with Product, QA, and DevOps to keep things moving fast without compromising on quality or scalability.If you enjoy solving complex problems, guiding high-performing teams, and building systems that actually make a difference – this one’s worth a look.In the role, you’ll be:Designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems using Elixir and Ruby, with some Go in the mixTaking the technical lead on key projects, supporting delivery while influencing the wider architectureGuiding and mentoring junior engineers while setting the tone for engineering standards and delivery mindsetWorking closely within a cross-functional agile team – collaborating to solve real-world problems at paceRolling up your sleeves when it counts – especially during high-pressure delivery periodsWhat we’re looking for:Significant experience as a backend engineer in modern product environmentsStrong critical thinking skills and a pragmatic approach to problem solvingAbility to lead from the front – both technically and as a mentorA product-led mindset – comfortable taking ownership from design to deliveryPassion for agile principles, team collaboration, and iterative improvementWhat’s on offer:Remote-first working (UK based), with just one day a month in ChesterA major product with scale, complexity, and a real-world impact
