- Provide advice, guidance and operational support.
- Write and maintain safety policies, procedures and protocols in accordance with legislation and University policy.
- Create and maintain accurate safety records for auditing purposes and prepare safety reports.
- Operate, service, maintain and calibrate specialist safety equipment.
- Analyse safety issues to find short and long-term solutions and investigate incidents.
- Prepare generic risk assessments and method statements/standard operating procedures (SOPs), in line with specialist knowledge.
- Training others in safety processes and procedures eg risk assessment training and implementation.
- Have extensive experience of health and safety (in laboratory and/or workshop environments).
- Be able to develop strong working relationships with colleagues (staff and students) to enable sensible and achievable solutions.
- Be committed to providing a quality, high-precision and efficient support service across the faculty.
