We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Hereford for a Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is part time for 2 or 3 days per week with shifts between 8am and 7pm, along with 1 in 5 weekends. There will be 2 or 3 extra Saturday mornings per year. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.Key details

The role
  • The role involves managing own cases, clinical work, leading Vet meetings, developing the team and working as the line manager within the vet team.
  • The position is a 12 month fixed term contract covering a maternity leave.
  • Flexible working and rota patterns available to accommodate a good work / life balance. EG Rota to work around the school run / holidays /lifestyle.
  • The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
  • The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

  • They offer cardiology clinics for a visiting specialist and they also offer orthopaedic surgeries which are performed again by a visiting specialist.
  • They have a great local reputation and pride themselves on the communication in terms of client care that they provide.
  • They have a team of 6 Vets, 8 Nurses, 2 SVNs.
  • They provide a support work environment.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

  • They are looking for a confident Vet and someone who is capable of assisting other colleagues in the development of their clinical skills.
  • They will be calm under pressure and have the confidence to lead a team.
  • The Vet will be a team player, with good interpersonal skills and be able to establish strong working relationships.
  • The vet will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills.
  • The Vet will be able to organise their own time well and remain calm under pressure.
  • The Vet will require a full UK driving license as there is branch work required.
  • The Vet will always maintain a high standard of clinical care and always willing to go that extra mile for patients.
Package
  • Salary: Up to £63,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service and birthday off
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £1,250 with 40 hours to attend

Must haves:
  • RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be
