Science Technician – ARP Setting | West Drayton, London | September StartLocation: West Drayton, London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Mon–Fri)
Salary: £23,500–£26,000 (dependent on experience)Are you passionate about science and keen to make a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?A forward-thinking school in West Drayton is looking for a dedicated Science Technician to support their ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision) setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, supportive environment where science comes alive for pupils with SEND.About the Role:
  • Support the preparation and delivery of science lessons tailored for students with autism and additional learning needs.
  • Set up and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons across biology, chemistry, and physics.
  • Assist teachers with classroom demonstrations and provide technical support during lessons.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment by maintaining equipment, managing stock, and adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and therapists to adapt activities to meet individual student needs.
  • Take an active role in science enrichment activities such as science club, competitions, and project weeks.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a lab-based role (school or industry).
  • A strong understanding of health and safety in a lab setting.
  • An interest in working with young people with additional needs – experience in SEN settings is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Science-related qualifications or relevant training preferred.
