Clearance: Must be eligible for UK SC clearanceAn established defence-sector consultancy is seeking a VMware Specialist to establish their VMware capability from the ground up. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for setting direction, implementing best practice, and training a team to support long-term delivery.Role Overview
- Designing, building and implementing a new VMware environment
- Defining best practice standards for VMware infrastructure in a secure setting
- Supporting integration with wider systems, networks and security frameworks
- Acting as the subject matter expert for VMware across the business
- Training, mentoring and developing internal staff to manage and support VMware solutions
- Producing technical documentation, guidance and training materials
- Proven expertise in VMware design, implementation and administration
- Strong background in enterprise-scale virtualisation projects
- Ability to set up VMware capability in a secure or complex environment
- Experience creating documentation, standards and training resources
- Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor and upskill others
- Eligible for SC clearance
- Previous work in defence or government projects
- Familiarity with MOD or HMG security requirements and policies
- Broader knowledge of infrastructure, networking and secure system integration
