Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a dedicated Deputy Facilities Manager (Cleaning & Portering) to help lead and enhance our cleaning and portering services across multiple sites, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.This is an exciting opportunity to join our Management team in a pivotal leadership role. As Deputy Facilities Manager, you will support the day-to-day operations of cleaning and portering services, manage frontline and supervisory staff, and contribute to service planning, compliance, and workforce development.The role requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, to meet the operational needs of the service. We're looking for someone who can respond to changing priorities and ensure consistent service delivery across our buildings. The role is offered on a full-time, permanent contract with a salary of £34,827 rising to £38,981 per year.As Deputy Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining high service standards, overseeing schedules, managing resources, and ensuring health and safety compliance. You'll also support contract management, stock control, and budget monitoring, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.We are looking for someone with proven experience in managing cleaning and portering services, strong leadership and organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
