- Implement strategic communication plans to promote Mitie's brand, services, and leadership externally.
- Manage media activity to secure quality coverage in priority outlets, supporting commercial and reputational goals.
- Maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media influencers across national, regional, and trade press.
- Co-ordinate the press office function, handling media enquiries and ensuring timely, accurate responses.
- Support reputational issues management, including out-of-hours media handling when required.
- Advise senior leaders on media engagement and reputational positioning.
- Draft and deliver compelling press releases, briefings, and articles that reflect Mitie's voice and values.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging.
- Proven experience in external communications, ideally in a complex or regulated environment.
- Strong judgement and experience in issues and crisis management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and craft compelling narratives.
- A strong network of media contacts and a track record of securing impactful coverage.
- Creative thinking and the ability to deliver innovative communications solutions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
