Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Newport (Monmouthshire) area from September 2025.This is a fantastic opportunity to support students aged 11–16, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and BESD. If you are caring, resilient, and thrive in a fast-paced, rewarding environment, we want to hear from you!Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for students with a range of learning needs
- Assist in classroom activities under the guidance of the class teacher
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement
- Help students access the curriculum in a nurturing and inclusive environment
- Collaborate with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement tailored support strategies
- A compassionate and patient individual with a genuine interest in education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and resilient in challenging situations
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is beneficial but not essential
- Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
- EWC registration (or willingness to register)
- Two recent references from educational or childcare settings
- Right to work in the UK
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (free training available via Teaching Personnel)
