Join our team as an Estates Maintenance Operative, where your skills will enhance the wellbeing of the individuals we support.The successful candidate will provide basic property and estate maintenance services as tasks arise. You will join our in-house maintenance team and will work closely with the Estates and Facilities team in providing varied reactive and planned maintenance services.This will include basic fault finding, painting and decorating as well as repairs to Trust properties; primarily in Swindon and Wiltshire areas, but you may be asked to work across other areas as well.This certainly wouldn’t be a monotonous role where each day is the same, in fact it would be quite varied and could involve hanging a door and fitting shelves, fixing a tap, basic electricals and plumbing, decorating, repairs, masonry such as pointing, etc. You don’t have to be an expert tradesman in any one field for this role, we are looking for somebody with a broad general knowledge/skill set across all areas who can carry out these works.Essential Experience and Requirements:
  • This position is reliant on experience rather than written qualifications
  • Basic English and Math skills
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Basic IT skills
  • Effective time management and work prioritisation, with a proven ability to work well under pressure
  • A willingness to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to change
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, service users and a range of stakeholders and build productive working relationships
  • Ability to identify issues, develop a logical and clear approach to problem solving and resolve conflict using own judgement
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, be self-motivated and committed to support the aims of the Trust.
  • Experience across several disciplines is essential for this role although it is at a basic skill level and does not require formal qualifications

As and Estates Maintenance Operative, your responsibilities will include basic:
  • Carpentry repairs to doors and frames (door handles/Locks/hinges etc).
  • Plumbing repairs (minor leaks/blocked toilets/drains etc).
  • Electrical repairs (Lamps/Switches/Sockets/Breakers etc.).
  • Masonry repairs (loose/damaged bricks/pointing/uneven pathways etc.)
  • Decoration services to properties (Ceilings/walls/skirtings/doors etc.)
  • Minor porterage duties (Furniture/fixtures/fittings) Assembly of furniture.
  • Gardening services (weeding pathways/jet washing/grouting, guttering clearance)
  • Boundary fence maintenance (repairs/treating/replacing panels etc)
