- Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), product architects and product requirements to define low level / software requirements (e.g. requirements gathering, requirements analysis, requirements workshops, etc.)
- Conducting functional and technical analysis, as required, to shape the system design
- Producing detailed engineering artefacts such as:
- Engineering Plans and Processes Documents
- System Element Descriptions
- Control and Monitoring Design Documents
- Interface Design Documents (IDDs)
- Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Safety artefacts associated with ED109A
- Preparing operational instructions / training material for the software application and/or supporting tools.
- Assisting with the definition of overarching product concepts and software architecture.
- Assisting the investigation of problems identified during test and operations, including problem diagnosis and resolution
- Reviewing test artefacts such as test cases and test procedures
- Applying the appropriate standards, processes and principles in their daily activities
- Assisting with impact assessments for product releases or change requests in the pipeline
- Experience of requirements management and associated software (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience of software architecture within a real-time and/or safety-related system and/or mission critical environment
- Experience of the complete system life cycle from problem definition through to deployment
- Experience of the adherence to process within a software development environment
- Experience of the ability to work as part of a Multi-functional product team (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Test, Engineering Management)
- Enthusiastic self-starter with good attention to detail and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written communication through the use of e-mail, presentations and reports
- Comprehensive understanding of various software development methodologies
- Ability to work with due attention to schedule and cost constraints
- Experience of Agile development (e.g. Scrum, SAFe)
- Experience of Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Crucible, Confluence)
- Experience of working with a number of external stakeholders and suppliers, working across organisational boundaries as appropriate
- Knowledge of Air Traffic Management within the UK or international markets.
- Knowledge of systems / software design tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Cameo Systems Modeler)
- Knowledge of infrastructure such as code and container technologies (e.g. Puppet, Docker)
- Knowledge of COTS integration technologies (e.g. Apache Camel, Apache Kafka)
- Knowledge of Control and Monitoring technologies (e.g. SNMP v2c, SNMP v3)
