- Excellent knowledge of word processing and IT skills

- Knowledge of local cultural, linguistic and demographic issues for adults with learning disabilities and their families.
- experience of adults with learning disabilities (16+)
- experience of at least 3 specific approaches; eg communication passports; visual timetables, Makaton signing, sensory approaches
- working as part of a team
- admin tasks including record keeping and note writing
- supervision and goal setting with supervisor
- data collection
- Good written communication
- Good organisational skills
- knowledge of communication issues relevant to people with learning disabilities
- Knowledge of a range of specific communication approaches/strategies relevant to adults with learning disabilities eg communication passports, communication books, Makaton signing, AAC
- basic knowledge of informal assessment techniques relevant for adults with Learning disabilities
- Excellent communication skills;ability to adapt communication to the needs of service users with limited understanding, challenging behaviour. Able to communicate complex information to specialist and non specialist staff.
