At Pertemps, we are delighted to be working in partnership with a high-profile Local Government organisation to recruit a Cabinet Support Officer to join their Corporate Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with strong administrative, policy and political awareness skills to play a pivotal role in supporting Cabinet Members and the wider administration in delivering positive outcomes for local communities.⭐ The Role As Cabinet Support Officer, you will:
- Provide flexible administrative and policy support to 2-3 Cabinet Members.
- Manage inboxes, triage correspondence, draft responses and co-ordinate casework to ensure prompt and professional communication.
- Deliver effective diary and meeting management, ensuring Cabinet Members' time is used productively.
- Support forward planning, prepare briefing materials, collate agendas, and co-ordinate briefings and stakeholder engagement.
- Undertake policy research and prepare concise, accurate analysis and briefing notes.
- Build positive relationships with senior council leaders, officers, external partners, community representatives and residents.
- Uphold confidentiality, political sensitivity and discretion at all times.
- Support events, site visits and Cabinet-related meetings, some of which may require flexibility outside of standard office hours.
- Proven experience providing senior-level administrative support (including diary and email management).
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarise complex information accurately.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Political awareness, confidentiality and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to engage confidently with Cabinet Members, senior officers, partners and the community.
- The ability to manage casework, briefings and portfolio priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of local government structures and functions (desirable).
- £26 per hour
- Hybrid working - 3-4 days per week in the office
