Holiday: 28 days (plus bank holidays)About the role We are recruiting an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team and work alongside their current QS. You will take ownership of the commercial management for mechanical and electrical packages across major residential projects, ensuring budgets are controlled, risks mitigated, and final accounts delivered accurately and on time.Key responsibilities
- Manage the commercial lifecycle of M&E packages from pre-construction through to final account and handover.
- Lead procurement and subcontractor selection for M&E trades; prepare tender documents, evaluate bids and negotiate terms.
- Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and monthly cost forecasts; track variations and change orders.
- Monitor and control budgets and cashflow; produce clear commercial reports and forecasts for senior management.
- Administer subcontract agreements and resolve commercial disputes and claims promptly.
- Implement and maintain risk mitigation measures to protect project margins.
- Work closely with project managers, design engineers, site teams and clients to align commercial strategy with delivery.
- Conduct site visits and audits to verify progress and validate valuations.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and support audits and client reviews.
- Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor on major projects (typically £20m+).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical services as applied to high-rise residential schemes.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
- Excellent commercial acumen with experience in valuations, cost forecasting, variation control and final accounts.
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement and written/verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage advantageous.
- Highly organised, attention to detail and comfortable working in a busy, collaborative environment.
- Experience with industry cost software or measurement tools.
- Working towards or membership of a professional body (RICS, CIOB or similar).
- Previous experience in multi-disciplinary projects and working with external consultants.
