Direct Payment Worker Job description(Please note this is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council)About the recipientWhat do people like about me? What amazing things can I do?7-Year-old boy. My big smile and giggly personality are what everyone loves about me. I am starting to get good at holding things. I also try my best to reach out and play with my toys when they are in front of me.What do I like?I love listening to music including nursery rhymes and watching the actions to the rhymes, but I may need some extra support to enable me to learn how to do this. I love to listen to stories and sharing my favourite books. I like watching my favourite programmes (Bluey/Paddington/ Pepper Pig/Paw Patrol/Fireman Sam) and love to be sang to, this makes me happy. What do I dislike?I am sensitive to loud coughing, it can sometimes frighten me if I'm not made aware, I can jump, and it upsets me and sometimes makes me cry, but comforting me helps me to settle. I suffer with seizures, but please don't worry, they are controlled with my medication. Sometimes if I am asleep and I wake up suddenly it can happen. I become vacant and my limbs become stiff. I can be vocal and look as if I am staring into space. Talking to me and keeping me calm helps. It only lasts a short while, then I come back smiling again. What do I enjoy doing?I love to go out in my chair for walks to the beach and to the park, where I can have fun on the roundabout and the nest swing. This makes me feel happy and I laugh lots. I also like going to the Mere to feed the ducks and geese, I love watching them they are funny. I also require help with all my physical care, such as dressing me, eating and having a drink as I am unable to do this myself. I have a gastrostomy where my special milk goes, and medication to make me big and strong, but if I needed this, don't worry, as my mummy will be able to show you.Our son is a beautiful and loving boy who loves attention and simply wants to enjoy life and be involved in as many social activities as he can.
