At WASP Havant, our high-performing team combines creativity, precision, and advanced engineering to create customer-facing products that set new standards for in-flight experiences.If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and want to make a tangible impact on the world of aviation interiors, this is the role for you.What You Will Do:As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead product development and certification activities for high-aesthetic, customer-facing interior products. You’ll work closely with Program Management, customers, internal teams, and suppliers to ensure timely, high-quality design solutions that meet specifications, certification requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Providing bespoke product designs that are reliable, high-quality, and production ready.
  • Leading design and certification activities for passenger cabin components.
  • Creating 2D and 3D CAD designs (SolidWorks), managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and PDM systems.
  • Preparing test solutions and supporting qualification testing documentation.
  • Designing across multiple disciplines (moulding, sheet metal, machining, cables, PCB assemblies, etc.).
  • Supporting 3D printing, prototyping, and hands-on build activities.
  • Applying knowledge of manufacturing and finishing techniques to optimise designs.
  • Revising drawings and documentation based on peer, customer, and certification authority feedback.
  • Providing progress updates, highlighting risks, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Reviewing internal and external documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Attending internal/external meetings and occasional offsite travel as required.
What You Must Have:To succeed in this role, you’ll bring both technical expertise and a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in a suitable engineering subject.
  • Demonstrated design experience in a regulated engineering environment (aerospace, automotive, marine, or similar).
  • High-level proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
  • Strong understanding of an engineering office environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited information, taking ownership to progress design and certification activities.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality designs under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to engage across all levels of the business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience We Value:
  • Basic electronics understanding.
  • An understanding of aircraft manufacturers’ qualification standards and related standards, e.g., D6-36440, RTCA/DO-160, ABD0100.1.2, etc. Or experience within a Part-21J organisation.
