A fulfilling opportunity awaits you in Poole as GSL Education are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to join a local school as an Outdoor Teaching Assistant immediately.About the SchoolThe school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.About the RoleAs an Outdoor Teaching Assistant (TA), you’ll play a key role in helping students develop life and work skills through outdoor and vocational learning. This is a hands-on role that requires energy, empathy, and a love for nature and practical education.What You’ll Be Doing
- Support students in vocational activities such as farming, gardening, and animal care.
- Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in outdoor learning.
- Collaborate with teachers and vocational instructors to implement tailored support plans.
- Encourage independence and confidence through practical tasks and enterprise projects.
- Experience working with young people with SEN is desirable.
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to support.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive to the school is essential.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, care, or vocational teaching (advantageous).
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
