We are seeking to appoint two exceptional candidates to become Non-Executive Directors, to support us in our vision to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest. This is a great opportunity to bring your experience and insight to a forward-thinking NHS organisation that is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.Main duties of the jobAs a member of a unitary Board, there is a shared and collective responsibility amongst all Board Directors for the overall strategic direction and performance of the Trust. All Board members are required to challenge, scrutinise and add value to proposals brought to Board and must satisfy themselves as to the appropriateness and integrity of the information that is submitted. Board members are also responsible for satisfying themselves that effective controls and systems are in place to ensure good governance of the Trust and the Board is accountable for its performance, through the Non-Executive Directors, to the Council of Governors, ensuring that the Board acts in the best interests of its patients and the wider community.About usRated 'good' by the CQC, MCHFT provides hospital and community services to the people of Cheshire and beyond across three core sites - Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford - and five care communities. We are well led, with our vision, culture and values embedded across the organisation. We employ around 6,000 people, making us one of the main employers in the Crewe area.We take a proactive role within the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care System and work closely with local place-based partners in Cheshire West and Cheshire East. We have ambitious plans for our estate, digital transformation and corporate services that will help deliver step changes in our clinical model. We believe, and it is the cornerstone of our Trust Strategy, we can progress and provide innovative, responsive and integrated care in the best setting for the patient, be it at home, in the community or in hospital - a direction of travel that aligns closely with the key themes of the NHS Ten Year Health Plan.We are a pathfinder in the national New Hospital Programme for the 'Hospital 2.0' blueprint, with a new Leighton Health and Care Neighbourhood set to open in 2032. This is driving significant digital transformation with a major step being the launch of our new Electronic Patient Record earlier this year, developed in partnership with East Cheshire NHS Trust.DetailsDate posted19 August 2025Pay schemeOtherSalaryDepending on experience £13,000ContractFixed termDuration3 yearsWorking patternPart-timeReference number412-CORP-7386868Job locationsLeighton HospitalMiddlewich RdCreweCW1 4QJJob descriptionJob responsibilitiesFull details of the role can be found in the candidate pack.Whilst this post will be required to take on responsibilities of a Non-Executive Director as identified, there is a specific requirement for one of the positions to provide independent judgement, expertise and challenge to the Leighton New Hospital Programme and the overall requirement will, therefore, be tempered accordingly Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesFull details of the role can be found in the candidate pack.Whilst this post will be required to take on responsibilities of a Non-Executive Director as identified, there is a specific requirement for one of the positions to provide independent judgement, expertise and challenge to the Leighton New Hospital Programme and the overall requirement will, therefore, be tempered accordinglyPerson SpecificationManagementEssential
