Opportunities have arisen to join our teams at Colchester Hospital. We are inviting applications for a full-time post, Consultant Histopathologist. with a *Welcome Bonus £20K*Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and must be on the Specialist Register.Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.Main duties of the jobCLINICALThe new appointee will automatically be a member of the Medical Staff Committee.The post-holder will:Participate in the departmental rota for routine surgical pathology reporting, and dissection.Attend MDTs according to rostering and clinical need.Participate in the MDT cancer care structure and assume leadership for cell pathology in at least one MDT according to the interests of the postholder and the needs of the department in consultation with existing consultant colleagues.Refer specialist cases to appropriate referral centres for reporting.About usWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.   • Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for reporting surgical pathology
  • Evidence of clinical audit
