Responsibilities***Preferred Candidate Identified***Shift: 1st ShiftPay: £ 12.71MSA Safety Yate Service Center is now hiring for a Service Operative. This role will be counted on for a variety of functions and will be crossed trained in multiple areas to perform the following tasks:
- Prepare garments for washing and starting the paperwork trail the entire process.
- Create/find batch to record washing around the service center and inspection details on SAP.
- Read the customer information on any incoming laundry paperwork from station to be aware of any special instructions or notes.
- Load relevant wash detail, perform full inspection of all garments/items to identify needed repairs, condition code, and record wash information into SAP and Prima.
- Tag any repairs found and produce a repair ticket.
- Separate repairs from non-repairs keeping them separated.
- Add an inspection tag, initialing and dating once you are having to sign off as a fit for purpose, condition code and complete garments without repairs.
- Add repair garments to the trolley awaiting move to sewing area.
- Separate pool stock and leavers kit into the tubs.
- Print tickets (correct color for day) for the garments and clip to paperwork.
- Prepare crate with 12 garments and matching paperwork.
- Ensure that daily gloves are washed in the domestic machine.
- Correct processing of clean kit.
- Be aware of the day’s priorities given by your supervisor .
- Understanding the 7-day turnaround process goal and the day order of work.
- Always escalate issues that prevent you from achieving the 7-day turnaround goal to a supervisor.
- Be prepared to move sections and complete other work when needed, that you have been trained on to increase productivity or efficiency.
- Working alongside your other service colleagues, so that collectively the laundry is returned back to brigades within the agreed 7-day turnaround objective.
- Responsible for returning the clean, repaired, launder kit bagged back to the customer at the specific location or station. Ensuring correct bagging of clean kit is accurate.
- Fold and pack garments correctly to meet presentation standards & brigade requirements.
- Audit and double check garments/ tickets/ repairs before packing.
- Be aware of day order and brigade days.
- Liaise with Drivers when needed.
- May perform warehouse picking and packing.
- Take part in a weekly housekeeping check /tidy up/ and cleaning exercise in your work area.
- Ensure desks are clutter free and clean.
- Ensure all equipment used is according to the training given and the specific requirements of the machines being used.
- Complete “Near Hits” for all unsafe acts, resolving if you can, and escalate to the supervisor.
- Ability to work unusual hours.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
- Good judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ensuring paperwork trail and opening batches within the system are accurate.
- Manual handling of laundry bags.
- Ability to work under pressure and act with good judgement skills understanding order of priority.
