Job Title: Cable Design EngineerLocation: RochdaleSalary: Competitive (dependent on experience)Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pmRole OverviewA fantastic opportunity for a Cable Design Engineer to join a growing team, responsible for creating and maintaining cable and wire product designs. The role involves interpreting customer specifications, developing design solutions, and supporting manufacturing and quality teams with technical documentation and production queries.Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain product designs in line with customer requirements
  • Generate and update Bills of Materials and routings for shop floor use
  • Create technical documentation including data sheets, product specifications, and First Article Inspections
  • Liaise with production staff to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Interpret detailed performance requirements and specifications to develop new cable designs
  • Manage design projects and contribute to process improvements
Skills & Experience Required
  • Computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office and CAD software
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Good understanding of basic electrical theory (current, resistance, voltage)
  • Ability to read and interpret wire and cable specifications
  • Knowledge of materials including conductors and insulation
  • Able to write technical reports and manage multiple projects
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Team player with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Ideally some knowledge of cable testing and quality systems (ISO9001, AS9100)
