- To provide an occupational therapy service for older people with complex mental health needs / dementia who are referred to the service including providing duty cover for the team.
- To carry out specialist occupational therapy assessment, goal setting, implementation of treatment programmes and evaluation.
- To establish the needs of individuals referred to the service and plan care with colleagues from health, social services, families, and the voluntary sector.
- To represent and promote the specialist role of Occupational Therapy.

- BSc/MSc/Diploma in OT
- HCPC registration
- Practice Placement Educator APPLE/LAPPLE trained
- Evidence of regular relevant CPD activites
- Experience of working with older people with mental health conditions and/or dementia
- Experience of effective MDT working
- Recent experience of working with older adults with physical conditions
- Experience of working in the community
- Service development experience
- Detailed knowledge of physical and mental health needs for older adults
- Good written, verbal & IT skills with patients, carers and others professionals
- Ability to undertake specialist OT assessments and assess complex risks with people with mental health conditions
- Ability to apply the OT process and plan, carry out and evaluate treatment for this client group according to needs and best practice evidence
- Understanding and aware of equality and diversity including the diverse needs of older adults
- Effective time management and organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Clinical supervision skills and able to supervise staff/students
- Ability to undertake initial mental health assessments and experience of care coordination
- Presentation / teaching skills
