- Full-time
We work closely with clinical partners at UCLH and Great Ormond Street Hospital, as well as international collaborators, to ensure our discoveries move rapidly from bench to bedside. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of gene and cell therapy research with Tom Fox and Emma Morris, and to help shape treatments that could transform patient care worldwide.About the roleAs a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Fox and Morris group at UCL’s Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, you will work on cutting-edge projects developing gene editing and delivery technologies for next-generation immune cell therapies. You will design and carry out experiments using advanced molecular and cellular techniques, analyse and interpret data, and contribute to publications and presentations. The role requires a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline such as immunology, molecular biology, haematology, or gene therapy, alongside strong practical skills in cell culture and molecular techniques. We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative scientist with excellent communication skills, who is keen to work at the interface of discovery and translation in a supportive and ambitious team. This role is available for 12 months in the first instance.About youYou will have recently completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, with hands-on experience in gene editing of immune cells.A solid grounding in biochemistry will be particularly valuable for understanding and optimising the lipid nanoparticle platforms developed with our collaborators at the National Institute of Chemistry (NIC) in Slovenia, complementing your practical expertise in CRISPR-based editing and advanced cellular assays. You will be expected to design and execute experiments that assess both editing efficiency and functional restoration in immune cells, and to analyse, interpret, and present your findings clearly to academic and collaborative audiences.Success in this role will be measured by your ability to deliver high-quality, reproducible data, contribute to publications and presentations, and work effectively across teams to advance the project towards translational milestones. Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.
