Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a vibrant primary school in Wigan to recruit a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils diagnosed with ADHD, helping them develop both academically and socially.This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, adaptable, and committed to providing positive, tailored support for pupils with additional needs.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide focused one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ADHD.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning plans and applying positive behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with the class teacher to adapt and deliver engaging learning activities.
- Help foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and regularly report back to teaching staff and the SENCO.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.
- Encourage pupils to build confidence, develop independence, and engage fully in school life.
- Support pupils during wider school activities, trips, and events when required.
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an education or SEN setting.
- A good understanding of ADHD and practical strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach to working with pupils.
- Flexibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
- Relevant qualifications or specialist SEN training (desirable but not essential).
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
