- Have a basic understanding of fire safety issues
- Engage with SOCOTEC Fire Engineers to develop core concepts of Fire Engineering
- Engage with SOCOTEC Fire Engineers to select an appropriate topic for end of year dissertation/project
- Be open to taking on some ad-hoc paid work, during holiday periods, assisting the Fire Engineering team with project work
- Drive your Continued Professional Development with the support of the Director of Fire Engineering
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil or similar field)
- Enrolled on a postgraduate fire engineering qualification (masters)
- Involvement and recognition with a professional body
- To be extremely passionate about fire safety
- Confident communicator, good customer service skills
- Self-motivated, able to prioritise and work on own initiative, as well as following instructions and working as part of a team
- Numerate, and organised with attention to detail
- Professional appearance and behaviour
- Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
- Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy
