CNC Machine Cell Setter/OperatorA leading manufacturer of advanced braking technologies for industrial applications is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Cell Setter/Operator to join their team. This role involves setting and operating a cell of CNC and manual machines to perform a sequence of operations on components in compliance with specifications.Key Responsibilities
  • Operate in a continuous improvement environment, ensuring quality parts are produced right the first time.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, tool lists, and setup sheets to select appropriate tooling and measuring equipment.
  • Load and unload components manually or using lifting equipment, ensuring secure and correct setup.
  • Set CNC machine tools and gearshaper machines according to program setting sheets.
  • Operate CNC controls with a basic understanding of programming to produce components to standard.
  • Perform dimensional and visual checks using appropriate measuring tools and gauges.
  • Adjust CNC machine offsets to correct errors.
  • Carry out basic assembly work as required.
  • Maintain safety standards, machine cleanliness, and perform routine lubrication.
  • Report any defects in machine tools or measuring instruments to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering, Quality, and Supervision to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks or projects as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in setting and operating CNC Turning, Milling, or Mill/Turning machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of geometric tolerancing.
  • Proficiency with engineering measurement tools and techniques.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, hardworking, and calm under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach.
Minimum Requirements
  • GCSE or equivalent education.
  • Previous experience working with CNC machines.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift, and use hands throughout the shift.
  • Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Manual lifting requirements:
  • Regularly lift/move up to 5 kg
  • Frequently lift/move up to 10 kg
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 20 kg
