Ward 3 is an acute medical ward within the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit.The Unit consists of 30 in-patient beds. It provides evidence based multi-disciplinary care with immediate and specialist management for the acute medical patient. This includes rapid diagnostic facilities, treatment and a multi-disciplinary approach including provision of comprehensive medical assessment.Most patients are admitted through the Emergency Department the aim of of the Unit is to help patients on their journey to recover to the point that they can either be transferred for ongoing care, return to their own home or to further care in the community.Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.Main duties of the jobWe have a vacancy for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to assist in leading and developing a fabulous team and invite suitable applicants to apply.We are for looking for an individual who is a dynamic, highly motivated and a passionate nurse, committed to high quality patient care.   • To supervise, support and educate junior members of the team.
  • To provide senior nurse site management cover.
  • To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • To be responsibility for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  • To act as team leader and co-ordinate the multi-disciplinary care of a group of patients.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

  • First level live NMC Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Nurse.
  • PP126/127 or AC631 or D32/33 or A1 or equivalent.
  • Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).

  • Leadership course
  • Management course
  • Diploma or degree in nursing
  • Qualification in specialty
Experience and knowledgeEssential
  • Previous post registration experience
  • Experience of relevant speciality.
  • Evidence of change management in ward/department area
