Most of the world’s global non-ferrous futures business is conducted on the LME’s three trading platforms totalling $18 trillion, 178 million lots and 4 billion tonnes with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots in 2024.The metals community uses the LME, an HKEX Group company, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.Overall Purpose of Role:As the Data Centre Operations - Team Lead, you will be responsible for the operation, management and continual improvement of the Data Centres and corporate site comms rooms that provide business-critical services to the LME. Working in close collaboration with the IT Infrastructure teams, Project managers, Solutions architects and LME business stakeholders, this role is a blend of BAU operational support and project delivery readiness, ensuring that new services are successfully transitioned into production.You will drive simplification, standardisation, and consolidation across the estate, with a focus on operational efficiency, cost optimisation and resilience. As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical and task leadership, mentor junior engineers and act as a key escalation point.The role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise, team leadership and strategic planning to ensure the data centre estate continues to meet business needs at scale. A willingness to travel to support local data centre operations and to work flexible hours including weekends, some evenings and occasional holidays is required.Responsibilities:Responsibilities of the Data Centre Operations – Team Lead role include:Provide expert guidance on the design, implementation and maintenance of local data centre infrastructure.Day to day governance and management of the Data Centre Colo suppliers.Lead troubleshooting for DC related issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.Stay current with emerging technologies in networking, cloud and data centre management to drive innovation.Oversee installation, configuration, cabling and deployment of data centre hardware (rack/stack).Ensure operational acceptance criteria are met for all new services/projects.Oversee day-to-day operations, including monitoring, optimisation, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.Implement and refine operational processes, SOPs and documentation for consistent execution.Proactively monitor facilities (power, cooling, HVAC, UPS, generators, environment) and resolve issues.Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and internal standards.Mentor and develop staff, building both technical and leadership capability within the team.Manage work allocation and ownership of project and BAU tasks.Partner with project delivery teams to ensure seamless service transitions.Provide guidance to contractors, third-party vendors and remote hands personnel.Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, security and business stakeholders to align infrastructure goals.Support the Network Manager and Head of IOE in defining and executing regional strategy.Analyse existing conditions, recommend innovations and drive cost reductions (e.g. refactoring DC footprints).Research, evaluate, and recommend tools/technologies to improve efficiency.Lead or support DC/infrastructure-related projects, from planning through execution and post-implementation review.Academic and Professional Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have exposure to working within an ITIL governed environment and infrastructure support frameworks. They will possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline/related field or the equivalent combination of education/technical training and work experience.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline.CDCMP/CDCDP certified or strong demonstrable experience of managing DC environments.ITIL and/or PMI certification is an advantage.Knowledge and Level of Experience:Minimum of 10 years’ experience working within enterprise-scale data centres with 5+ years in a Data Centre management leadership role. Previous experience within a financial services/exchange environment beneficial.Expert knowledge of structured cabling (Cat 5/6, fibre types, copper, twinax, AOC).Broad understanding of infrastructure hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load-balancers, servers).Solid understanding of security principles (both cyber and physical) in data centre environments.Basic knowledge of virtualisation, storage and disaster recovery solutions.Basic knowledge of network and server OS installation/configuration.Hands-on experience with ServiceNow/JIRA or similar ITSM tools.Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM frameworks.The LME is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
