Location: DartfordAbout the jobWith a focus on the design and application of screw compressors, you will need to be self-motivated, prepared to cover a variety of responsibilities from ‘hands on’ testing and commissioning of compressors to complete Compressor Design Projects both here in the UK and in collaboration with other group companies around the world.Main Responsibilities
- Design and development of screw compressors.
- Management of given projects & test programmes, and operation of test stands.
- Analyse applicability, accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- Evaluate and diagnose problems and recommend “Counter measure” recovery plans.
- Recommend design changes or substitution of materials when appropriate.
- Assemble, modify, and test the company’s products at Group locations, including prototypes, and equipment with new features.
- General research and development reporting, and analysis of test results.
- Investigate, and where appropriate re-engineer existing compressor designs for better performance in respect of quality, reliability and energy efficiency.
- Working with team to setup and prepare compressors for testing incl. compressor disassemble, installation of sensors and other equipment.
- Work with outside specialist companies plus other organizations that can bring alternative solutions to the screw compressor design.
- Create and review technical drawings of compressors and associated parts for prototypes.
- Thermodynamic analysis of the refrigeration/AC system, with particular emphasis on compressor applications.
- To carry out testing by making sure compressor performance, and testing quality level, is appropriate. Analyse testing results, understand compressor improvement opportunities and drive implementation of changes.
- To undertake the planning, monitoring and control/report the progress of development projects as required.
- To produce compressor performance data for use within Daikin Applied and J & E Hall ltd.
- Any other duties as required by your Line Manager.
- Ability to work well both individually and within a team environment.
- Flexible with the ability to multi-task efficiently.
- Willingness to vary between hands on tasks and desk-based analysis when required.
- Curious and inquisitive.
- Ability to plan and organise workload successfully.
- Educated to minimum degree level in the field of Mechanical Engineering, or similar engineering degree (min 2:2).
- 3D CAD (Solid Edge/Solidworks) experience would be beneficial.
- Advanced MS Office (Excel) experience is beneficial.
- UK driving licence is beneficial.
