Are you a highly experienced Chief Data Officer / Head of Data ?Do you have experience delivering complex data services in a regulated environment, ideally within Financial Services ?Would you like to spearhead an environment that ensures the business can use data to make better decisions and services.In this role you will be responsible for the build and running of their data platforms and services and play a lead role in developing and delivering the data strategy.This is a day rate contract, Inside IR35. Working from their Edinburgh office on a hybrid basis.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Data Services function, including defining team structure, operating model, and service offerings.
  • Oversee the setup and management of a modern cloud-based data platform, ideally using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Collaborate closely with other business units to align data services with organisational goals and technology strategy.
  • Drive the build-out of the data platform, focusing on scalability, usability, and performance.
  • Provide strategic input into platform architecture, team design, and future capability planning.
  • Act as a senior leader and thought partner, not focused on day-to-day operations but on long-term planning and enablement.
  • Influence and define how the Data Services team integrates with broader IT and business operations.
Skills & experience:
  • Proven experience leading data transformation programs and building data capabilities from the ground up.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with modern data platforms, especially cloud-based solutions (experience with Microsoft Fabric is a strong advantage).
  • Demonstrated success in designing and structuring data teams, including operating models and service frameworks.
  • Experience managing or overseeing teams of 20+ data professionals.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, platform governance, and data lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate effectively at senior levels.
Experience with AI and advanced analytics is highly desirable
