  • Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation.
  • Experience of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems is desired
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and the project team
  • Ability to produce clear and concise electrical design deliverables across all design stages of a project
  • Willingness to contribute to and help develop technical knowledge networks
  • A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland (where our head office is based) would be advantageous to help support our overall workload
Main Duties and Responsibilities:The main duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer are outlined as follows:
  • Reporting to the Senior / Lead Electrical Design Engineer.
  • Part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
  • Responsible for assisting in all aspects of Electrical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
  • Production of procurement specifications for Electrical equipment; cable calculations and production of detailed design construction drawings.
  • Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with subcontractors / suppliers.
  • Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
  • Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Ensure Glan Agua's & the Clients' Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
  • Update Design Change Control.
  • Liaise between Mechanical and Civil & Structural Designers
  • Be involved in the growth and development of the company including expansion of the direct delivery model.
  • Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:The main knowledge, skills and experience required are outlined as follows:
  • Ideally be a member of the IET, with aspirations of becoming chartered.
  • Some knowledge of the Designer and Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
  • Experience following a programme.
  • Able to communicate clearly and work effectively.
  • Some experience working with Thames & Yorkshire Water's electrical design an advantage but not essential
  • Provide mentorship to junior / graduate Electrical design engineers.
  • Water and Wastewater design experience highly desirable.
  • Some commercial experience is desirable.
  • An interest in developing a career within an industry-leading organisation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings.
  • Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise.
  • Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
  • Full driving licence
