As a part of our team, you will play a central role in providing our clients with: design support, system assessments, and verification services. Your support will enhance our team as we continue to provide our clients with:
- analysis-informed design improvements or optimisations,
- a more detailed understanding of fluids behaviour in their systems
- actionable technical insight to inform budget decisions.
We are looking to recruit an Engineer or Project Engineer with a strong consultancy mindset and demonstrable capability in a range of fluid flow, thermodynamics or heat transfer related topics. Element are committed to the continued development of our in-house, UK-based, permanent staff capability for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermofluids. The position is based in our Bristol or Derby offices, although some level of hybrid and flexible working arrangements can be made available. This position would suit someone relatively early in their career who is looking to develop further as an engineering consultant or to rapidly advance their technical capability.Responsibilities:Your main responsibilities, as part of a thriving and busy team, are as follows:
- Carry-out a range of technical projects and analyses, with some supervision from our more experienced staff, in order to meet the clients’ needs and expectations.
- Participate in technical delivery and client relationship management
- Support business development activities with a range of new and existing clients
- Integrate and engage with our positive team culture with adherence to Element’s core values – care, integrity, and progress. Skills / Qualifications:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree (grade 2.1 or above), Masters or PhD or in a relevant engineering, science or applied mathematics discipline. Preferably with a strong CFD or thermofluids component.
- Have experience delivering engineering analysis in an engineering company and/or engineering consultancy setting; prior Project Management experience would be highly desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in solving problems involving fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, multiphase flow, reactive flow, dispersion or blast.
- Experience in at least two of the aerospace, nuclear, renewable energy, oil & gas, or defence sectors.
- Ideally have knowledge of commercial and open-source themofluids analysis tools such as Amesim, Flomaster, ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM with a demonstrable ability to extend their capability using user functions where necessary;
- Some proficiency in the in the use of programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, VBA , C# or C/C++ would be an advantage.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Actively working toward, Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status.
