As a Catering Assistant you will assist and support with food preparation and operation of the hospitality service to ensure a high-quality food and beverage service is provided to customers, staff and visitors.Key Details

- 32.5 hours a week
- Option of working either Monday- Friday 8am-3pm or Monday-Friday 9-4pm
- To provide consistently high standards of customer service at all times when welcoming and serving customers.
- To assist in food preparation using correct equipment in the correct preparation areas in accordance with food hygiene regulations, practices and procedures (as per training).
- Ensure food is appropriately stored in accordance with food hygiene regulations, practices and procedures.
- To serve customers, in accordance with portion sizes and actively promote catering sales. Report any customer comments or complaints to the catering supervisors.
- To ensure correct disposal of waste and recycling in accordance with procedures.
- To provide the highest possible standards of cleanliness ensuring that displays, fixtures, fittings, catering equipment, crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, tables, chairs and floor surfaces are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, by cleaning manually and/or using dish washing equipment in accordance with hygiene practices and procedures.
- To operate all Kitchen Equipment as per training.
- To ensure food products are correctly and attractively displayed and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all menu items especially those that may contain food allergens and provide guidance as required.
- To take cash transactions using the cash register, including cash float, issuing of receipts, correct prices charged, cashing up at the end of a shift ensuring safe storage of takings.
- Previous experience in a catering or hospitality environment.
- Previous experience of food preparation in a catering environment.
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
- Experience of operating a coffee machine and serving customers in a catering setting.
- Experience of operating a till and cash handling.
