An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team on the Macmillan Windmill Unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospital.The post holder will be required to assist outpatients clinics related to the haematology and oncology areas. Working alongside the consultants , nurses specialist and advance nurse practitioners to ensure the patient needs are met, and to assist with all clinic related procedures.The successful candidate will be expected to work Monday to Friday from 08.00 until 20.00, depending of shift pattern necessary for the week , no weekends or bank holidays . In this position we offer part -time hours, on a permanent .Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a candidate that is interested in the cancer services department, supporting the outpatients clinics as able. Demonstrate empathy, compassion and care towards patients and team . The candidate will need to show good communication skills , and a positive attitude.Main duties include:
  • Maintaining patient safety and dignity at all times
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
  • Recording base line observations
  • Being the patient advocate and escalating any concerns to the appropriate teams
  • Working closely with all members of the team
  • Supporting team with medical procedures
  • Supporting with administrative tasks
  • Patient chaperone

  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant

  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Able to deal with sensitive issues and information with tact and diplomacy
