Leigh on Mendip School is looking for a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team and help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work under the guidance of teaching staff to deliver support programmes, facilitate access to learning, and help manage classroom activities. You will play a vital role in supporting both pupils and teachers, contributing to a safe, productive and caring school environment. This position offers variety and responsibility both inside and outside of the classroom.Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Pupils:
  • Provide care and supervision, attending to personal, social, and health needs.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs, developing knowledge of individual strategies and targets.
  • Encourage participation, interaction, independence, and self-esteem.
  • Offer constructive feedback and contribute to student progress monitoring.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions as needed.
Supporting Teachers:
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining a purposeful learning environment.
  • Help plan activities, manage resources, and record pupil achievements.
  • Promote positive behaviour and deal with incidents in line with school policy.
  • Offer administrative support including photocopying, filing, and data input.
  • Assist with pastoral duties and tutor support.
Supporting the Curriculum:
  • Deliver and adapt planned learning activities to suit pupil needs.
  • Support the development of literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Use a variety of tools and approaches to enhance learning and independence.
