The award winning stroke team at Stepping Hill hospital is looking for band 5 nurses to come and join our successful stroke team.Ward A10 is a 28 bedded Hyper acute stroke unit incorporating assessment beds for newly admitted patients direct from HASU ED and some short term rehabilitation beds.Ward E1 is a 30 bedded stroke recovery unit focusing on longer term rehabilitation for stroke patients. We are recruiting staff nurses for both of these areas.Both these departments are unpredictable and fast paced with great job satisfaction. Stroke is an area constantly developing with excellent learning and development opportunities.The teamwork between the medical , nursing and allied health professionals ensures the constant delivery and focus on evidence based high quality patient care.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a caring, compassionate individual that is well organised, thrives under pressure and feels ready to develop their leadership skills within a friendly and supportive team.Stroke experience is not essential as we offer a full in house training package. We offer you excellent managerial support and commitment to your personal professional development. You can access a variety of training courses from Acute Illness Management, ILS and preceptorship. The post holder will assist in the admission and discharge processes for patients in line with local procedures.They will provide support with the effective patient admission pathways and effective discharge planning using their clinical skills to agree admissions and manage/report any impact on shifts/ workload and staffing levels.They will proactively engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and keep them informed about their treatment and care. They will demonstrate compassion by recognising and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way.Maintain registration, and nursing competencies, and comply with NMC code of Professional Conduct and related documents.To be flexible to work within other areas or departments to meet the demands of the trust workforce model and changing service needs.If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50.
