
Lead Systems Engineer

- Providing overall systems leadership for large and complex science/engineering projects
- Developing design specifications and conducting design activities
- Completing technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options
- Reviewing, agreeing, and controlling external and internal interface documents
- Developing instrument performance models, manufacturing tolerances, and component specifications
- Managing technical budgets and tolerances
- Developing assembly, integration, and test plans to verify compliance with requirements
- Managing the assembly, integration, and testing of systems and sub-systems of instruments and scientific products
- Providing technical delivery of complex hardware and software systems
- Planning, coordinating, and delivering internal and external reviews
- Documenting system design, processes, procedures, and test results
- Liaising with other specialists to ensure performance is maintained and requirements are met
- Generating and reviewing technical proposals, providing accurate estimates for effort, costs, and risks
- Degree in Physics or an applicable engineering subject area (Optical, Mechanical, Electronics, Systems, or Software) or equivalent
- Industry experience in systems engineering across the full systems engineering lifecycle
- Experience in developing and delivering complex instrumentation and control systems
- Knowledge of a wide range of technologies
- Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary science/engineering teams
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills
