- Experience of working with hard-to-reach young people with SEMH/ACE’s/ASD/Sensory and communication difficulties.
- We are looking for candidates who are ‘Trauma informed’ with a mentoring/coaching/teaching background and an understanding of Therapeutic Education.
- Have the ability to build strong, meaningful and healthy relationships.
- Who can maintain professional boundaries, are resilient, solution focussed and reflective in their practise.
- Full time (temporary long term) positions 8.30-4.30 (Mon-Fri)
- The role will entail:
- Working 1:1 with students in the community who are accessing one of the Curriculum Pathways (Engagement, Vocational, Academic)
- It is mainly a community based role with the expectation that TEPs will be flexible to travel to the hub at times with their students and travel around London to work with different students within their cluster groups.
- There is no private parking onsite (only pay and display).
- Travel expenses (during working hours) and lunch with students is included and will be reimbursed.
- Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and keep records of incidents, health and behaviour etc. as necessary.
- Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being through a whole Waking Day curriculum.
- Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/ care professional.
- Assist the Class Teacher’s with carrying out the professional duties of a teacher as outline in the Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision.
- To provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through teaching a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Support the day to day running of classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of a Class teacher.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant must have experience working with mental health problems and complex SEN needs.
- This school believes that all young people should be provided with appropriate education in a safe, stable, containing learning environment.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant will be working with a secondary aged pupils who have SEMD, SEBD troubled behaviour . Some students are academic and they range from KS2- KS4
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant are given opportunities to succeed through the use of highly personalised individual education plans to help support their students.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant will need excellent behaviour management skills
- Be able to build positive relationships with young people and staff
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant need to be able to teach/cover a range of lessons when needed
- Good knowledge/experience working with children with SEMH within an Special needs environment
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant will need experience working with secondary aged pupils
