Position: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant
Location: North Tyneside

These schools focus on helping every pupil develop their independence, confidence, and emotional well-being, ensuring they are prepared to achieve their full potential both in education and in life beyond the classroom.The Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their emotional, social, and academic development. Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff, you will help to create a safe, supportive environment where students can build resilience, form positive relationships, and engage confidently in their learning.Your role will include:Providing individual or small group support to promote emotional regulation, social skills, and positive mental health.Assisting in the delivery of personalised support plans tailored to each learner’s needs.Working proactively to manage behaviour and provide consistent emotional support.Supporting students with their academic work while helping them develop focus and confidence.Keeping clear records of progress and working collaboratively with staff to ensure each student’s journey is supported and celebrated.About You:
You will be empathetic, calm, and dedicated to supporting students with SEMH needs. While experience in a similar role is desirable, we welcome applications from people with transferable skills, such as youth work or care, who have a genuine passion for making a positive impact. You’ll need to be adaptable, a strong communicator, and committed to promoting inclusion and independence.
