- To provide support to the service manager to meet the aims and objectives of the service including deputising and delegated responsibilities.
- To provide support to the service manager in the effective day to day management of the team within the resources available and agreed governance frameworks.
- To attend relevant MDT Meetings and represent the Trust from a Mental Health Perspective.
- To undertake investigations in line with the relevant organisational policy (e.g. complaints, Incidents, Serious Incidents, Structured Judgement Reviews, HR investigations).
- To identify and address poor performance in line with organisational policy.
- To alert the Service Manager in a timely manner to any concerns about the team's effectiveness, or that of any of its members.
- To review staffing levels and skill mix as necessary.
- To be responsible for the leadership, mentorship and support of staff on a daily basis.
- To manage and provide management / clinical supervision to staff under your line management.
- To monitor the performance of the team, ensuring waiting times and Key Performance Indicators are adhered to; escalating appropriately to the service manager if any issues are to arise.
- Work within the infection control agenda to improve standards.
- Improving environments for patients.
- Work with patients and their carer/relative in addressing concerns by building closer relationships.
- To promote partnership working with patients, carers and stakeholders.
- Experience of working with people with Severe and Enduring Mental Health problems.
- Experience of working within a Community Mental Health setting
- Delivering training to colleagues
- Experience of auditing service effectiveness and producing high quality written reports for senior management
- Experience of effectively resolving difficulties with colleagues and other mental health professionals. Developing effective networks and partnerships Clinical leadership
- Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Evidence of other development and/or training which indicates commitment to continuous development and preparation for leadership
- ENB 998 or other NMC approved mentor qualification or mentor qualification appropriate to discipline
- Management or leadership qualification and/or training
- Experience of working with people with Severe and Enduring Mental Health problems.
