JB297: Purchasing OfficerLocation: BallymenaSalary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annumOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Purchasing Officer on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities for the Purchasing Officer:
  • Working with other departments to create specification to ensure goods & services procured best meet business needs.
  • Purchase goods, materials, and services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes, including communication and negotiation of resolution to any supply problems, which may impact the business.
  • Extending supplier network by building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships.
  • Minimise stock holding and ensure timely controlled delivery of goods and services to departments across the business.
  • Provide analysis / reports on costs, new and existing suppliers.
  • Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
  • Management of Brexit customs paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by your manager.
Skills and Qualifications for the Purchasing Officer:
  • Previous procurement experience and strong ability in supplier management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a busy team.
  • Forward thinking, with forecasting experience.
  • Strong capability to deal professionally with customers, clients & colleagues.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Willingness to be flexible to suit business needs.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with ability to prioritise a busy work schedule.
  • Confident in using computer software such as Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Driven individual with experience working in manufacturing environment.
  • Product knowledge of precast building products.
  • Experience in meeting KPIs and targets.
  • Full driving license.
