
Lead Nurse for Medicines Safety

- Registered Nurse (part 1 Register)
- Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent experience in nursing
- Independent prescriber status or ability to complete course leading to independent prescribing qualification
- Substantial post registration experience as a practising clinical nurse. Experience of dealing with highly complex clinical issues which require the analysis of information from a range of sources, which may not be, in agreement.
- Experience of dealing with a wide variety and grade of hospital staff (including senior medical and managerial staff) on a regular and ongoing basis
- Experience of undertaking specific project based and audit work
- Wide experience in the use of computers and data analysis and reporting
- Up to date knowledge of clinical governance and experience in risk management process in relation to incidents
- Ability to undertake clinical incident investigations and develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence
- Knowledge and understanding of medicines legislation
- Completion of teaching and assessment programme
- Experience in training, assessing, supervising and monitoring staff
- Understanding the importance of monitoring quality of service
- Ability to influence prescribing practice to promote medicines optimisation
