We are looking for a senior nurse with a keen interest in medicines safety to act as the liaison between pharmacy and nursing teams on all aspects relating to medicines management.The post holder will work closely with the electronic prescribing team to help audit and implement medication related policies.Main duties of the jobTo provide leadership, support and training at ward/department level to nursing, medical and pharmacy staff to improve all aspects of medicines management and optimisation.   • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent experience in nursing
Desirable
  • Independent prescriber status or ability to complete course leading to independent prescribing qualification
ExperienceEssential
  • Substantial post registration experience as a practising clinical nurse. Experience of dealing with highly complex clinical issues which require the analysis of information from a range of sources, which may not be, in agreement.
  • Experience of dealing with a wide variety and grade of hospital staff (including senior medical and managerial staff) on a regular and ongoing basis
  • Experience of undertaking specific project based and audit work
  • Wide experience in the use of computers and data analysis and reporting
  • Up to date knowledge of clinical governance and experience in risk management process in relation to incidents
  • Ability to undertake clinical incident investigations and develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Knowledge and understanding of medicines legislation

  • Completion of teaching and assessment programme
  • Experience in training, assessing, supervising and monitoring staff
  • Understanding the importance of monitoring quality of service
