  • Ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met on time and to the required level of quality
  • Accounts are always compliant with IFRS and/or local accounting standards
  • Co-ordinate the month-end close of the financial ledgers and the preparation of the financial statements for the assigned entities ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and present to CFO for signature
  • Ensure creation and posting of Journals entries and perform SAP month-end activities as per Month-end calendar
  • Ensure completion of BFC reporting (Intercompany, Inventory, Financial Reporting) to Group deadlines
  • Ensure completion of the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure performance and document monthly analysis of Balance Sheet and P&L for all in-scope companies, documenting and communicating points of significance or material movements to relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure presentation of the Balance Sheet(s) to Controllers on a periodic basis, highlighting and resolving accounting matters
  • Analyse non-COI movements, liaise with Group departments to ensure correct presentation
  • Present Financial Statements to CFO for signature
  • Actively manage Budget and Forecast process for Balance Sheet level submissions (Trade Working Capital, Tax, Cash Flow) or any other Budget and Forecast submission where consolidation is required
  • Participate with the Stat to tax Accountant and Project analyst in External Audit to ensure timely signature of the Financial Statements
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of Direct Reports in the assigned General Accounting team, ensuring that all team members are aware of tasks, deadlines and responsibilities.
  • Maintain a robust Accounting function by ensuring that there is back-up and cover for all tasks. E.g. using training matrices. Organise training and put in place periodic job rotation. Ensure effective onboarding processes exist.
  • Act as cover for Accounting team activities where required and appropriate
  • Report the performance of the assigned Accounting team vs the Service Level Agreement through the creation and analysis of KPIs
  • Prepare and present any KPI’s relevant to main responsibilities for inclusion in Performance Dashboards, Measures Boards and other Governance Forums
  • Support the preparation and delivery of the Shared Service Centre Operational Review Meeting
Key Requirements
  • Qualified accountant with a high level of expertise in Accounting, Tax and Internal Control.
  • Previous experience in a leadership/supervisory role, with examples of training, development and mentorship of direct reports
  • Excellent communication skills across all formats
  • Well organised with excellent time management, delegation and prioritisation skills
  • Competent user of SAP and MS programmes (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Seeks out opportunities for continuous improvement and process efficiency
