- Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk
- Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports
- Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw material
- Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques
- Understanding Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8.1d appointment
- All aspects of budgetary control for the Plant
- Maintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the same
- Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
- Reporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practices
- Issuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team
- Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix
- Collating and report on monthly performance KPI for your business unit for the Area Operations Managing and driving operational performance through KPI's
- Ensuring appropriate Contractor and visitor inductions are carried out in line with company procedures
- Leading the collaboration between the site based crushing, load and haul, asphalt and maintenance teams within the operation
- Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology
- SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6
- IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous
- Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies
- Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP and the Microsoft packages - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask and manage change
