- Ensure that all Health & Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered, regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to environmental, health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
- Maintain, review and update risk assessments and method statements for all work equipment and operations, including those of sub-contractors working on behalf of HSD.
- Supporting the completion of environmental, health and safety documentation associated with pre-qualification questionnaires and contracts.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Coordinate & manage all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy
- Establish a full program of documented HSE inspections, audits and checks, including supporting all 3rd party audits (ISO, Achilles & other construction/customer-based audits).
- Establish a structured program of health & safety training throughout the Company and retention of records.
- Manage and devise the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and installation teams, contracts managers and subcontractors to integrate HSE objectives into daily activities.
- Co-ordinate with customers/contractors to ensure staff and HSD sub-contractors are not at risk to health while working on their premises/construction sites
- Proven experience within manufacturing and/or construction
- NEBOSH Certificate essential; Diploma preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills to drive HSE initiatives and influence stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, standards, and industry best practices
- Internal auditor qualified
