Job DescriptionJob Reference: JH/SM/StaffordJob Title: Carer (Female only)Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum) and the employer's representative (son's)Hours: 15 hours a week & additional hours may be offered. (Potential for additional hours / cover, following successful probation period for 3 months)Work Pattern: Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 10am - 3pmHours will follow an induction / training programme of 2 week, accompanied by employers representative:Week 1 - Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10am - 1pmWeek 2 - Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10am - 1pmHourly Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour (4 weekly salary, bank transfer, minimum 5.6 weeks pro-rota holiday per yearBased at: Out in the local area, accessing local nature walks, drive thrus for snacks (50% of time). At the employee's own private residence, working / caring for the young lady (50% of time). (Stafford, Staffordshire)The above to be undertaken using employee's own vehicle. Mileage expenses will be payable when transporting the young lady (private agreement).Job Purpose * 1 care and supervision of a young 24 year old lady that has complex needs. This 24 year old has a diagnosis of: Severe learning disabilities, severe autism, rare chromosome disorder, epilepsy, heart condition, spinal scoliosis, self-harming behaviours and is nonverbal. She has no sense of danger and required 24/7 care and supervision to ensure her safety. She has very limited understanding of the world around her and no stranger danger or traffic awareness.Main duties:
  • Collecting the young lady from her home in Brewood.
  • Taking her out in your own car to access local country walks, calling at drive thrus for snacks. (subject to weather conditions and health considerations of the young lady on the day)
  • To work remotely from your own private home, caring for the young lady. Providing an appropriate, safe, clean environment, access to supervised sensory activities and a TV.
  • The young lady is non-verbal and has no sense of danger and will require 24/7 care/supervision at all times. She can use some gestures to make her wishes known.
  • You will be required to carry out all aspects of personal care / hygiene, so will have to be prepared and willing to do so.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Personal Specification
  • Previous experience of working with people living with severe learning disabilities.
  • Full, clean driving licence (including business class insurance).
  • Prepared to use own vehicle and transport the young lady.
  • Prepared and able to work remotely at own private residence, caring for the young lady.
  • Live locally to Brewood, Stafford.
  • Possess resilience and awareness of triggers in managing some behaviours that challenge.
  • Patience / flexible.
  • No smoker / non vaper.
  • Be up to date with Covid & other Vaccines.
  • Enjoy walking outdoors.
  • Respect privacy of the family.
