This newly created position is designed to enhance the professionalism and consistency of monitoring activities across a wide spectrum of risk areas. The role will focus on delivering high-quality risk insights, developing and executing monitoring and testing programmes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the function.This is a global role and will report into the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring lead. The role is part of the Turner & Townsend global Risk Management team.Main Responsibilities:This role can be based in either London or Leeds.
- Supporting the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring Lead in developing a fit for purpose second line of defence monitoring function;
- Use data analytics tools to support risk identification and management, working with the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring lead to ensure insights are meaningful and actionable across risk areas;
- Support developing and robustly apply the Risk Management Monitoring Plan and methodology, ensuring monitoring and assurance activities are aligned with the plan’s objectives;
- Delivering outputs from the Risk Management Monitoring Plan and methodology to a high standard for review and approval by the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring Lead. This includes risk assessments, project scopes, testing documentation, and written reports;
- Engage with subject matter experts in ethics, compliance, privacy, operational risk, and contract risk, ensuring that your work reflects key risk priorities identified by your manager;
- Supporting continuous improvement activities, including making recommendations to support control deficiencies/continuous improvement, tracking and reporting on remediation activity;
- Support the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring lead review monitoring frameworks to ensure they meet regulatory and/or best practice standards;
- Contribute to the development and refinement of risk metrics. Assist in preparing reports for internal stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to senior stakeholders
- Support activities to manage SOX business requirements for the E&C programme;
- Support due diligence and integration activities arising from M&A activity as required; and
- Performs other ad hoc duties as assigned.
- The Risk Director (Ethics and Corporate Compliance), who is the line manager of the Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring lead
- Other members of the Risk Management team, including Operational Risk, Privacy and Data Protection, and Contract Risk;
- The Regional operational business, including the Regional Managing Directors, Regional Boards, Regional Risk Management representatives;
- The Business Services teams, such as Finance, HR and IT;
- other related risk roles outside of the Risk Management function, such as the SOX monitoring teams; and
- You will also be expected to liaise with Turner & Townsend’s business advisors (e.g. lawyers, insurance brokers, etc) and the CBRE Risk, Ethics and Compliance team (CBRE are 70% owners of Turner & Townsend), as necessary.
- Ideally to be professionally qualified or part qualified with an audit background e.g. a qualified auditor or accountant;
- Experience of auditing a variety of different subject areas and ability to apply professional experience to new subject areas
- Experience of auditing core compliance areas of financial crime compliance, including Anti-Bribery and Corruption Compliance;
- Strong analytical skills and capabilities, including excel;
- Ability to work independently;
- High attention to detail, balanced with an ability to be pragmatic and understand relative risk;
- Experience of working within a global business and be able to work flexibly across other time zones when necessary;
- Efficiently and effectively communicate complex risk topics to non-experts;
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), including sensitivity to cultural differences across a global business; and
- Self-motivated, pro-active and resilient.
