- Develop and implement business unit strategy and budget aligned with the Building & Real Estate Division's goals
- Drive operational excellence across all building regulation and compliance consultancy projects
- Lead and develop high-performing technical teams to deliver exceptional client service
- Oversee Building Regulations and Compliance Consultancy projects from inception to completion
- Manage resources efficiently to meet company financial targets and quality objectives
- Ensure adherence to SOCOTEC's terms & conditions, policies, and quality assurance systems
- Maintain operational control of the customer base for allocated teams
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and associated statutory legislation
- Provide authoritative technical guidance to colleagues and clients on building control matters
- Stay current with relevant legislation and update procedures accordingly
- Collaborate with other technical disciplines and other business units as require
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Build and maintain client relationships to develop a robust project portfolio
- Market SOCOTEC's building regulation and compliance consultancy services effectively
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-calibre professionals
- Provide support, supervision, training, and guidance to team members
- Conduct performance appraisals and development planning for technical staff
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes cross-functional collaboration
- Ensure all documentation, records, and filing systems meet quality procedures and contractual requirements
- Review new commissions/plans to ensure regulatory compliance
- Conduct or oversee site inspections to verify compliance with regulations
- Champion a positive and proactive health and safety culture through exemplary leadership
- Ensure compliance with SOCOTEC and client quality, safety, and environmental systems
- Promote a culture where safety, workplace health, and environmental responsibility are prioritise
- Full membership of RICS, CABE, or equivalent professional body
- CSCS Card
- Relevant professional certifications in building control or compliance
- Minimum 10 years' experience in building regulations and compliance
- Demonstrated managerial experience overseeing complex projects
- Proven track record in building control related services for complex and high-risk buildings
- Experience with budgeting and financial management
- Strategic thinking and business acumen
- Exceptional leadership and team development abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of building regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Client relationship management and business development capabilities
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
