If disputes cannot be avoided, we endeavour to resolve them with minimum fuss.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have experience of working on large complex disclosure reviews, which is a focus area of this role. They will also have experience of advising private and/or corporate clients on contentious matters, with a particular focus on resolving complex family, private and commercial disputes. Candidates will need to be able to command the trust and confidence of clients who expect a first-class service.The role will involve advising on and conducting litigation and ADR procedures with limited supervision, including representing clients in a wide-range of disputes (many with an international element). Experience of working with a variety of clients, such as high profile individuals, corporations, families, family offices and charities, in this capacity, is essential.It is expected that applicants will be at a stage in their career where they will be able to work independently yet within a supportive environment. Excellent written and verbal communication is a pre-requisite as are organisational and prioritising skills. Proven networking abilities are essential. The role will involve some supervision of junior fee earners and being a good team player is essential.Ideally, the candidate will currently be working in a large or medium sized London-based commercial litigation department. Candidates from the Bar who can demonstrate a strong track record in the practice area will also be considered.Skills/Experience
  • A qualified solicitor or barrister with two years' post-qualified experience in commercial/private client litigation within a top tier firm, ideally in London
  • Strong case management experience and first hand exposure to high net-worth private clients and corporate clients is essential
  • Experience of complex and very large disclosure reviews (reviews involving millions of documents within the disclosure pool), including on first and second pass review and also in privilege reviews is essential
  • Experience of pursuing and/or defending claims for fraud is helpful
  • Some experience of working on arbitration matters is also helpful
  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Commercially driven with strong business development skills and the confidence to develop and build business from existing and new clients
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and develop strong relationships both with clients and colleagues across the firm
  • Personable and confident, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
