This lovely family based in Sydenham, London, is seeking an After-school Nanny to care for their school-aged child. The role involves all general nanny duties, including reading books and supporting early literacy, such as helping with letters. The family is flexible about cooking simple meals for the child, and additional hours may be offered during school holidays if required. One evening of babysitting per week is included, with responsibility limited to bedtime. The family is likely to get a dog in early 2026, so the candidate must be comfortable around dogs. There is also the option of three extra hours per week if the candidate is happy to assist with some light housekeeping, as the family already employs a cleaner. A valid paediatric first aid qualification is essential for this position.Working hours: Monday to Friday from 3:25 pm to 6:30 pm | potentially more hours during school holidays | a night of babysitting, one night per weekDuties include:
  • Planning engaging and educational afternoon activities and outings
  • Preparing healthy, home-cooked meals for the child
  • Organising the child's bedroom, clothing, and play areas
  • Performing light housekeeping related to the child (e.g. tidying toys, laundry)
  • Assisting with homework and school-related tasks
  • Supporting the child's emotional and social development through play and conversation
  • Establishing and maintaining consistent routines for meals, play, and rest
  • Supervising the child during outings and ensuring their safety at all times
  • Encouraging early learning through storytelling, games, and age-appropriate activities
  • Helping the child prepare for bed, including bathing and dressing if required
