Description and requirementsSkanska, one of the world's leading project development and construction groups, is aninclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.We are looking for a Senior Planning Engineer - Pre-con to join our Infrastructure planning team in Leavesden, Watford.What you'll do:
  • Develop robust, resource-loaded tender programmes from first principles, aligned with Skanska standards and contract requirements.
  • Identify and manage time-related risks, focusing on efficiency in cost, carbon, safety, and environment.
  • Collaborate with tender teams to integrate planning with estimates and identify opportunities.
  • Clearly communicate programme strategies, assumptions, and visuals to stakeholders.
  • Support the development of junior planners and ensure smooth handover to delivery teams.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • At least 5 years in tender planning with an infrastructure contractor, including pre-construction planning under tight deadlines
  • Minimum 3 years in a site-based delivery role within infrastructure
  • A construction-related qualification (Degree or HNC/HND)
  • Skilled in various planning methods and software tools
  • Strong understanding of the construction market, project lifecycle, DCO/consenting, and construction methodologies
  • In-depth technical knowledge of construction techniques, plant, equipment, and labour needs
  • Confident in identifying and managing planning-related risks and opportunities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to plan at project level
  • Clear and persuasive communicator, both written and verbal
  • Familiar with a range of construction contract types
